Missions Conference

Our Annual Missions Conference begins this Wed. night at 6:00pm (Oct. 14th).  Come on out to Open Door and hear about how God can use normal people to accomplish big things in this world.  Just don't come expecting a standard youth group evening.

Tonight the youth mission trip to Belize is one of the spotlights.  I'd love to see you here.

Evidence Unseen Concert

If your friends have ears, you need to invite them to Evidence Unseen's first full concert, hosted here at Church of the Open Door.  We will be having this concert during our youth group time on Wed. night.  We will have fliers for you to hand out to your friends at school soon - pick them up at youth group next week (Sept. 9).

WHEN:  Sept. 23rd.  Doors open at 6:00pm, Concert begins at 7:00pm. 

WHERE:  Church of the Open Door in Hampden, ME  (On Rt.1, across from the Hampden Library)

WHAT:  Evidence Unseen, live in concert.

COST: Admission is free!

Fun Town - Splash Town

Calling all our Jr. Highers. This year's Fun Town trip will also include Splash Town. The trip is THIS THURSDAY! You must sign up and have a permission slip if you want to come.

Cost is 25.00 (check to Church of the Open Door).

Bring a swimsuit, towel, lunch (or $$ for lunch), and a little $$ for dinner at a fast food place on the way home.

When: Aug. 6th. THIS THURSDAY

Leave Fun Town at 5:30PM (we will call on the way back with pick up times)

Man Camp 2009

Join us for another manly man camping trip. This will be our 4th annual "Man Camp". Man Camp with Beyond Existence and Men Mentoring Men from Church of the Open Door is not like your typical youth group camping trip.

If your camping style involves a pop-up camper, a campground with a pool, bathroom with running water, showers, etc... then this is exactly the camping trip you need to come on. Join us as we leave ALL of that behind and enjoy God's creation without all the amenities of 21st century living. Enjoy the woods as God made it.

Each year at Man Camp we learn a new skill and make something to add to our outdoor gear list. Two years ago we all made survival kits. Last year we made soda can stoves that run on denatured alcohol.

This year we are adding a slight minimalist element to the trip by limiting your pack weight (35lbs, including shelter and cookset) and we will each build our own lightweight backpacking kitchen kit. You will receive a lightweight cook pot, stove, windscreen, pot stand, mug/bowl with insulator. You will be cooking your own meals on this trip - and we'll show you how to do so effectively and safely.

You will be required to attend the pre-trip "gear day" where we will build our cooksets and go over gear requirements and limitations (Thursday evening from 6-8pm, Aug. 20th)

And definitely don't forget your Bible. There's nothing better than spending some time in God's word and prayer in the morning, sitting on the edge of a lake or side of a mountain. Each morning we go our separate ways for 30-45 minutes to have personal devotions. This is always the highlight of any youth trip for me and I hope is the same for you.
